　　中國(guó)的長(zhǎng)城漢語(yǔ)中常叫作“萬(wàn)里長(zhǎng)城”。實(shí)際上它長(zhǎng)6 ooo多公里。它從西到東，穿過(guò)沙漠，越過(guò)高山，跨過(guò)深谷，蜿蜒而行，最后直到海邊。它是世界上的奇觀之一。

　　長(zhǎng)城有兩千多年的歷史。最早是在春秋時(shí)期開(kāi)始修筑的。戰(zhàn)國(guó)時(shí)期，各諸候國(guó)為了保衛(wèi)自己的邊境，分別修筑了更多的城墻。在秦朝時(shí)，秦國(guó)把各諸侯國(guó)統(tǒng)一起來(lái)，成為一個(gè)帝國(guó)。為了御敵于國(guó)門(mén)之外，秦始皇令人把所有的城墻連接起來(lái)。這樣，長(zhǎng)城就形成了。

　　長(zhǎng)城上面很寬，足夠五匹馬或10個(gè)人并排而行。沿城墻有許多烽火臺(tái)，過(guò)去常有士兵駐守。敵人來(lái)時(shí)，就點(diǎn)燃烽火，以通知其他士兵。
