The Smell of Dirt
A lot of people love that fresh-dirt smell. The surprising thing, though, is that it isn’t coming from the dirt itself.
Microbiologists have traced the pleasant odor to an organic chemical called “ geosmin“.”
No way! But how does geosmin get into dirt?
A microbial geneticist named Keith Chater at the John Innes Center in England has traced geosmin down to a common bacterium called Streptomyces coelicolor.
He even found out exactly which gene in the little critters causes them to produce geosmin.
No way! A bacterium is producing the chemical that smells so good?
Interestingly enough, there are unconfirmed reports that animals are attracted to fresh dirt in the desert, and go there looking for water.
As they nose around the dirt, they pick up plenty of S. coelicolor,
which then hitch a ride from one oasis to the next.
If it’s true, then the bacteria in general may create the odor in order to attract animals.
The animals find water, the bacteria are spread, and everyone is happy.

To solve this problem, we need first to find out the reasons. For one, the fast pace of modern society is driving people apart from each other, thus people are losing the patience to care for others. For another, with technology developing, its much easier for people to know what is happening in the world today. In order to draw peoples attention, some media would lay stress on negative news and overemphasize the negative effects.
To reestablish social morals, we must work together. People should learn to care for the others, while the media should treat negative news more properly.

Many people want to ask, what is the best time for sleep? Do we need to sleep early or late? My opinion is to sleep early. Here is the reason why we should sleep early. First, it will make you more healthy. Sleep late would cause illness, long time not sleeping early will damage your body. Second, many people had said that if you don't get many time to sleep, and you sleep late would make black rim of the eye. That is not healthy also, and it's not beautiful. We should give our body a rest. Sleep is the best way. Well, there are certain time that is best for us to sleep. Sleep early is definitely better than sleep late. Also, we should not keep awake the whole night. You don't feel the damage when you are young, but when you get older, the problem start to appear. Many disease of heart and lung started from not sleep at night. Many youth think it is fun to keep awake or sleep late. But I don't think so. Keep your body healthy. I strongly suggest to sleep early.
