　　You are taking a poetry course and a famous poet visited as guest speaker for the class. The professor had previously advised everyone to be on time. You walked in fifteen minutes late.

　　In about 150-200 words, write an email to your professor apologizing for your tardiness and for being discourteous. Your email should do the following things:

　　• Explain to your professor why you were late.

　　• Apologize to your professor.

　　• Offer a solution to make amends.

　　Dear professor,

　　I had every intention of arriving on time to class today, as you had specifically instructed for this special day. I live about an hour from the university and left extra early to ensure my timely arrival; however, I did not anticipate being rear-ended by a vehicle a couple of streets away from school. After assessing the damage and exchanging insurance information as quickly as possible, I headed straight to class, but unfortunately, I was over fifteen minutes late.

　　I greatly apologize to you, the class, and Mr. Author for arriving during the middle of discussion. I hope you can forgive this unintentional indiscretion. I certainly did not mean to show any lack of respect.

　　Please be advised that I will obtain any notes I missed from one of my classmates. Also, I can provide insurance documentation and pictures of my vehicle at your request. If there is anything else I need to do in regards to resolving this mishap, please advise. Thank you for your understanding.
